Good news. I recently discovered that Fotmob – the website I use to scrape data – has recently added xG data for League One and League Two competitions, so I thought it was worth it to take advantage of and do a visual with this new data.
Also, I want to give a shoutout to Filippo Gronchi who gave me the inspiration and idea for today's visual.

From Around the Grounds
I recently added a new section to the newsletter where I highlight visuals or articles that caught my attention during the week, if you'd like to be featured @ me on Twitter so I can see your work 😊.
xG Lollipop from Sezer Unar
Ok, talk about taking an idea and absolutely smashing it out of the park with a rework.
That's exactly what Sezer Unar did with the xG Lollipop. The amount of detail poured into this viz is just unbelievable.
⚽️📊 I made a new xG lollipop chart. I will share this with the data viz showing the playing style of the teams after some matches. Let me tell you about the graph. pic.twitter.com/rD563JUK4W

Odriozolite's thread on through-balls
Yash's work is really amazing and inspiring.
She definitely doesn't need any promotion from my end, but this thread on through-balls and the visuals within it are just amazing.
A decade of through-balls in Premier League:

Through-balls are one of the most lethal passes in football. They have a good conversion rate & are exceptional at splitting opposition lines.
With ~13k through-balls in the last 11 seasons, here is a closer look at them.

Liam Henshaw's Player Templates
Liam is another content creator in the football analytics Twitter space, and he's really been smashing it out of the park recently with his new player templates.
Here's one from Brenden Aaronson in the match against Chelsea.

Look at the two defensive actions inside the attacking six-yard box from Aaronson, he gets rewarded with it with a goal as a result. #lufc pic.twitter.com/mGFGLYMVbE
